What to expect from this bike tour
You will start this adventure in the town of Manteigas* and will travel to thermal village of Unhais da Serra. On the way you’ll know the most unique mountain landscapes in Portugal.

Route in territory classified by UNESCO. Discover the Estrela UNESCO Geopark. You will witness the marks of the glaciers that have shaped this mountain over time.

Day 1
Arrival in Manteigas and Check In at the Hotel. Bicycle delivery and brief briefing.

53KM | 1,400 m d+ | 20% secondary roads and 80% off road
From the heart of Serra da Estrela, you will head to its southern slope. You will begin the journey through the dense forests that populate the slopes around the village of Manteigas, after visiting the Poço do Inferno waterfall, you will ascend to the Serra de Baixo plateau . Here you will have the best views of the Zêzere Glacier Valley and the highest peaks of our mountain. Soon after, you will descend to the mountain village of Penhas da Saúde, before passing through the Cortes valley with its waterfalls and agricultural terraces. You will end this first day in the village of Unhais da Serra in the Alforfa Glacier Valley, with views of the highest points in mainland Portugal.

46KM | 1570 d+| 80% paved road 20% dirt road
On this day you will travel through the entire Alforfa Glacier Valley, from the village of Unhais da Serra, between the two highest mountains in mainland Portugal, the Torre plateau and the Alto da Pedrice. You will pass by Covão do Ferro, the largest glacial circle in Serra da Estrela, and continue climbing to the Tower at 1993m altitude. From the Tower the route is always descending, with views to infinity and passing through many points of interest such as the Vale Glaciário de Loriga, Lagoa Comprida, Covões do Forno and do Curral, Barragem do Lagoacho and finally the Vale do Rossim , before the end of the stage in Penhas Douradas.
